Jason + Gessie | St. Lukes Hospital | Boise, id

I first spoke with Gessie over the phone in May of 2023 as she was referred to me from a past bride. I remember the excitement in her voice as she talked to me about the details of what she wanted for her wedding day.I was so excited to have been chosen to be a part of their day.

As we met and talked over the coming months she was getting excited and counting down the days to when she could marry her soul mate. During all the planning she found out she was pregnant with twins. She herself has a twin brother, so it runs in the family. In talking with her about the news and finding out that her due date wasn't too far past her wedding date I asked if she would be changing her date. But she couldn't wait to marry her love and wanted to keep her date. I loved that, whenever you have a couple that is excited to commit to forever it makes it so much more special.

Fast forward to the day before their wedding when Gessie went in for her routine check up. She was told that they would need to be life flighted to the specialists in Boise. So off she went with hopes that she would be home by the next day for her wedding. Gessie was so optimistic in hoping that they would still be able to have their dream wedding. So while Gessie was up in Boise her wedding party and family was back in Jerome having rehearsal without them in hopes that we would all be here tomorrow celebrating. I like to say that I learn a lesson from every couple I work with. It's part of why I love what I do. Optimism and happiness win over in the end is what I learned from this couple. In the end she didn't come home and was told that she would need to be in the hospital until she could have the babies which was weeks away.

To say this couple is loved isn't enough and doesn't explain how the people around them came together to make their wedding day happen in the hospital. I mean they did have the suit rental, the flowers, the dresses, everything was ready. It's just the venue changed. It was perfect the way it ended up. Surrounded by the people they love most, sharing the commitment to each other that they've been so excited for. To me that's the prefect recipe for a perfect wedding day. Both Gessie and Jason were so happy to have still had their wedding day no matter that nothing went according to plan and that truly what was important to them was committing to forever together.
